Topic: If I replace the short cable with a longer one (non-Moto), does it still activate turbo charge?

The short answer is, it depends. (Depends on how long, and the quality of the cable). A somewhat longer cable that has larger gauge power conductors inside can work fine. If the longer cable has smaller conductors, the voltage drop will be too great, and the turbo charge will not activate. The Motorola data cable was specifically designed for, so you would have to do some experimentation to find out of a different cable would work.
